Whether you're going to a costume party or preparing to play the role of Cleopatra on the stage, you need good Cleopatra makeup. Read on to learn how to create the perfect Egyptian queen look.

Any makeup look starts with a good foundation and concealer to hide imperfections. Because Cleopatra was Egyptian, her complexion was olive toned and tan. If your skin is naturally pale, you will need a foundation a few shades darker than your skin. After applying your foundation and concealer, set the base with pressed powder. You may want to apply a shimmery bronzer on top for a sun baked look. Blush should be kept subtle, as the main focus for this look is the eyes.

For gorgeous Cleopatra eyes, you will need eyeshadow, black eyeliner and mascara. In the movies, the eyeshadow color has ranged from shimmery white to bright blue. You could even go for a gold eyeshadow, which is a gorgeous look. Apply your eyeshadow all the way up to the browbone. Then, line the top lids with black liner. You can use pencil or liquid. Liquid liner will give the most dramatic effect. Wing the liner up and out at the outer corners. Line the lower lash line also and connect the lines at the outer corner. If you decide to contour your brows, go for a dramatic arch.

When it comes to the lips, you can go for dramatic red lips or a muted nude shade. For a natural look, line and fill in the lips with a neutral toned pencil and top with clear lip balm. To accent certain parts of the face, use a gold toned shimmer highlighter stick or powder. Good places to apply highlight include the tops of the cheekbones, under the brows and right above the Cupid's bow of the lips. To accentuate your Cleopatra makeup look, get a black wig in the Cleopatra style and add some gold accessories. You can buy costumes that come with a dress, wig and headpiece for a pulled together look.
